Ok, alright, well, THIS SOUNDS INTENSE!Can't wait for Wednesday (I'm gonna see it then and not on Sunday if it kills me!) http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/seri...isode/4186.htmlThoughts?
--------------------
Ok, so let's see. Terroist regime ousted, democratic elections held, terrorists clearly showing they don't like what's going on, Iragi police being trained to uphold democracy, understandable set backs along the way. Yep, looks like we're taking the first scary steps towards government of, by, and for the people at a surprising pace. Guess we shouldn't have done the whole thing and should just withdraw and let it all degrade into a military dictatorship because almost all you read in the media is what's going wrong and there's a fair amount of "allies" out there who are pi$$ed off because we've eliminated a monetary source for selling arms. Guess they'll just have to play to a smaller market of terrorist regimes like Iran, Syria, et al. %^\!

Thoughts? |
The preview teaser they showed for next episode was intense. I just know that usually the teaser isn't really what happens.
|
Definitely true, C'pok, (I saw the teaser at the link I posted at the beginning of this thread - presumably the same one you saw on TV), but the synopsis would seem to bear out the teaser.
Not saying that any senior officers are going to die, just saying things are really heating up!
If the "Cavalry" (Shran, the Vulcans, etc), are going to show up, NOW would be good!

*** POSSIBLE SPOILERS ***
I agree, there is going to be something very intense happen, but I don't necessarily trust the synopsis either. I also hear that Daniels might appear, so it has the possibility of being just a possible outcome. I hope not, I will be disappointed if it is.
I am not going to speculate any further, and I have to wait until Saturday to see it so I am going to probably be scarce after Wednesday in order not to give in to temptation.

***WARNING - SPOILERS***(But then, the sub topic already says that.) The synopsis does indeed say Daniels will be in this ep and that he will show Archer some dismal possibilities to his future but that Archer decides to go full steam ahead with a suicide mission anyway! Or, as C'pok has suggested, perhaps the synopsis is misleading as well, and Archer going straight for the jugular is part of Daniel's "possible" scenario which he shows to Archer. This brings up an interesting thought: When is it ok to really start tampering to restore an already tampered with time line? Things have already been way tampered with, according to Daniels in a prior ep, by Earth being attacked, Enterprise in the Expanse trying to stop global annihalation, etc. Usually, it's a HUGE Temporal Prime Directive "no-no" to inform someone of their future, but at this point, if Enterprise succeeding at its mission is the best way to set things as near "right" as possible, it would seem that such "tampering" would be appropriate. I definitely remember that part of the original Prime Directive refers to non-interference UNLESS it is to "undo" something set in motion by prior interference. What'd'y'all think?

Sorry about the constant pre-empting, C'pok. Say, what say we pass the time on Wednesday evenings getting together and shooting a few hoops! Ok, sorry. That was inappropriate!

Well..... That just depends on what we are shooting and at what hoops???? Shooting and hoops don't necissarily mean basketball, you know. Boy, this editing is hard stuff.

If you're referring to the Prime Directive that Picard and others later are always mentioning, would the original one even have a reference to temporal tampering? I would think that wouldn't have been incorporated in the PD until later in time when it starts to become know that altering timelines is possible. Or, maybe with the TOS episode where Kirk has to let Joan Collins die gives them the impetus to incorporate that into the PD???

What about that TNG ep that had the guy who played Max Headroom as a timetraveler. If I remember corectly he was from the 22nd century and had killed a timetraveler from the future and stolen his time machine. Anyway I didn't see anybody coming to enforce the Temporal Prime Directive then. Just sayin'. This episode looks really good. I seriously doubt that Archer won't be coming back from his "suicide mission" though. Daniels will time travel him outta there.
--------------------
When you go a restaurant on the weekends and it's busy they start a waiting list. "They say Dufrayne, party of two, table ready for Dufrayne, party of two," and if no one answers they'll say the name again, "Dufrayne, party of two." But then if no one answers, they'll move on to the next name. "Bush, party of three. Bush, party of three." Yeah, but what happened to the Dufraynes? No one seems to care. Who can eat at a time like this? People are missing! You people are selfish! The Dufraynes are in someone's trunk right now, with duct tape over their mouths and they're hungry! That's a double whammy! We need help! "Bush, search party of three." You can eat once you find the Dufraynes. -Mitch Hedberg

"Tit for Tat", styler001! First I mistake your point about a weaponless man vs a jungle cat, (in another thread), then you miss mine about violations of the Temporal Prime Directive. I was referring to when it might be ok for someone like Daniels to more overtly interfere with the timeline, ala running future scenarios by Archer, thus revealing his future to him with the idea being that this is justified since the timeline has already been tampered with and the best way to repair the damage turns out to be insuring that Enterprise succeeds in its mission. As I remember from the "non temporal" TOS Prime Directive, the one time when it is ok to interfere with a culture is to repair damage already done by prior interference. Kind of like the ep where Kirk tried to "set things right" on the planet where a colleague of his had fashioned an entire society after Nazi Germany. I thought this kind of "allowable" intervention might pour over into the Temporal Prime Directive for Daniels.

They walk that way cuz there'n hills are a mite slopier than our'n hills and there'n legs growed funny. |
Hey holdemfoldem, want to go shoot some hoopies? |
