Predators coming July 9

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the forest...another new Predators movie is coming out. This one on July 9 starring Adrian Brody and Lawrence Fishburne who are part of humanity's most effective killers and are stranded on a jungle planet being hunted for sport by the Predators.

Alien prequel a go - with Ridley Scott

In yet another attempt to resuscitate an ailing franchise, Twentieth Century Fox is returning to "Alien", this time with a prequel. The only bright spark to this one is that original film director Ridley Scott has signed to direct. Jon Spaihts will be writing the script with Scott Free producing. It will precede the 1979 film that Ridley Scott directed, in which the crew of a commercial towing ship returning to Earth is awakened and sent to respond to a distress signal from a nearby planetoid. New Indy Jones movie in the works

While Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull disappointed Indiana Jones fans, it still scored enough for a sequel to be planned grossing more than $783 million worldwide. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star Shia LaBeouf revealed in an interview with the BBC that a fifth movie is in the works. LaBeouf starred as Mutt, Indy's son with Marion Ravenwood. Keanut Reeves to play Jekyll, Cowboy Bebop

Keanu Reeves will star in a new version of Robert Louis Stevenson's "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and will also star in a live-action version of "Cowboy Bebop" playing lead bounty hunter Spike Spiegel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Jekyll" will be set in the modern day. "Cowboy Bebop," A Japanese animated series, tells the story of a group of interstellar bounty hunters and their adventures aboard the starship Bebop. Star Trek scores big - sequels definite

Star Trek took in more than $75 million its opening weekend leaving all competitors in the dust (closest was X-Men Origins with $27 million). Naturally this means sequels are a definite. Upcoming Movies - When are they coming out?

If you are like me, you keep forgetting what movie is coming out when. Until we get our full movie section back in shape, here are a few with their release dates to get you ready. Star Trek - May 8. JJ Abrams re-imagining of the original Star Trek concept with all new cast playing Kirk, Spock and the rest of our favorite Enterprise crew. Terminator Salvation - May 21. Like Star Trek, this is another film trying to revitalize a classic franchise. This one takes up where Terminator 3 left off starring Christian Bale. ... more

Who you gonna call... again?

In the "old franchises never die, they just get reinvented" department, remakes of Tarzan and Poltergeist weren't enough apparently as Ghostbusters is also in the works for a new shot in the franchise pocketbook. Columbia Pictures has hired "The Office" co-executive producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky to write a script that apparently would reunite the original cast of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd and Ernie Hudson. Woody Harrelson goes Zombie Hunting?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Woody Harrelson (yeah that guy from Cheers) has signed on to star in "Zombieland," a horror-comedy from Columbia Pictures. Harrelson will play a zombie fighter named Albuquerque in the project which focuses on a pair of poorly matched survivors making their way in a zombie-occupied world. Jackson to write, not direct Hobbit

Peter Jackson passed on directing The Hobbit and it's sequel, but he as well as LOTR alumni Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens have officially signed on to work on the script for the 2 films. Guillermo del Toro will direct, but Jackson in the writing team should help insure the quality of the 2 films and that they integrate well with his Oscar-winnning Lord of the Rings trilogy. Production is slated to begin tentatively next year with release dates planned for 2011 and 2012. The films are being co-produced by New Line and MGM. --08/20/08 more

Harry Potter Movie 6 Pushed Back

Warner Brothers has officially pushed back "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince," the 6th installment of the wizard series, to a July 17, 2009 premiere. It was previously expected to be a November 2008 release. Half Blood Prince delves more into the background and family history of Lord Voldemort.
