Merlin Season 2 moves to SyFy

Season one of the BBC series Merlin aired on NBC, but the Syfy channel has purchased the rights to air Season 2 as well as rerun Season 1. They will have a Season 1 marathon on March 28 from 10 am to 11 pm (ET). They will then start airing Season 2 episodes on April 2 (Friday) at 10p;m following Stargate Universe.

Merlin stars Colin Morgan as Merlin, Bradley James as Prince Arthur, Anthony Head as King Uther, Richard Wilson as Gaius, Katie McGrath as Morgana and Angel Coulby as Gwen.

In the season two premiere episode, new servant Cedric (Mackenzie Crook, The Office) threatens Merlin’s position as Arthur’s right-hand-man, turning the Prince against his loyal friend. Merlin is convinced the slippery newcomer is up to something and he’s right – Cedric is a con man and a thief who’s after a magnificent jewel recently unearthed in a tomb far beneath Camelot. Little does Cedric realize that his precious prize is more dangerous than he could possibly imagine.

The BBC has commissioned a 3rd season of the series which will begin airing in the UK in September. No word when or if SyFy will air it. -- 3/10/2010
