Andre Norton passes

Science Fiction Grand Master Andre Norton died in her home in Tennessee on March 17 of cogestive heart failure. She was 93.

The former Alice Mary Norton (who changed her name legally in 1934 to Andre) wrote more than 130 books in many genres. Her Witch World series included more than 30 novels. She will be cremated with a copy of her first and last novels.

Norton, a former Florida resident I met years ago, was the first woman to be a recognized Grand Master by the SFWA. Her final complete novel, "Three Hands for Scorpio", will be released in April.
